Step 1: Log in to your Discord account

You can access the Midjourney Bot anywhere you use Discord, whether it’s on the web, your phone, or the desktop apps. But before you can join the Midjourney Discord server, make sure you have a verified Discord account. If you need help creating or verifying your account, we’ve got you covered.

Step 2: Subscribe to a Midjourney Plan

Head over to Midjourney.com/account and sign in using your verified Discord account. If you want to know about pricing and get more information, check out the Subscription Plans page.

Step 3: Add the Midjourney Server on Discord

To join or create a server, simply click the “+” button at the bottom of the server list on the left-hand sidebar in Discord. Then, click the “Join a Server” button and paste or type this link: http://discord.gg/midjourney. If you want to learn more about Discord servers, they’ve got resources to help you out.

Step 4: Navigate to the #General or #Newbie Channel

Step 5: Use the /imagine Command

Discord commands are how you interact with the Midjourney Bot. They allow you to create images, modify settings, monitor user info, and perform other useful tasks. To generate a unique image, use the /imagine command followed by a prompt, which is a short text description of what you want to see. Make sure to respect the Community Guidelines wherever you use the Midjourney Bot. You can type “/imagine prompt:” or select the /imagine command from the slash commands pop-up. Enter a brief description of the image you desire in the prompt field and send your message.

Prompting Tip! For the best results, keep your descriptions simple and concise. Instead of long lists of requests, try describing what you want to see in a straightforward manner. For example, instead of saying, “Show me a picture of lots of blooming California poppies, make them bright, vibrant orange, and draw them in an illustrated style with colored pencils,” you can simply say, “Bright orange California poppies drawn with colored pencils.

Step 6: Accept the Terms of Service

When prompted, make sure to accept the Terms of Service before any image can be generated.

Use the /imagine Command

Step 7: Processing the Job

The Midjourney Bot needs approximately one minute to generate four image options. It utilizes powerful Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) to interpret and process each prompt. When you subscribe to Midjourney, you’re essentially purchasing time on these GPUs. Every image you create consumes a portion of your subscription’s GPU time. You can use the /info command to check your remaining Fast Time and Trial time.

Step 8: Upscale or Create Variations

Once the initial image grid is generated, you’ll see two rows of buttons:

  • U buttons: These allow you to upscale an image, generating a larger version with more details.
  • V buttons: These create slight variations of the selected image. Each variation generates a new grid similar to the chosen image’s overall style and composition.
  • 🔄: The 🔄 button lets you rerun a job, producing a new grid of images based on the original prompt.

Step 9: Create Variations or Favorite Your Image

After upscaling an image, a new set of options will appear:

  • 🪄 Make Variations: This creates a variation of the upscaled image, generating a new grid with four options.
  • Web: Clicking on this option opens the image in your gallery on Midjourney.com.
  • ❤️ Favorite: Use this button to tag your favorite images and easily find them on the Midjourney website.

Step 10: Save Your Image

To save your image, simply click on it to open it in full size. Then, right-click on the image and select “Save image.” If you’re using a mobile device, long-tap on the image and tap the download icon located in the top right corner. All your images are immediately available for viewing on midjourney.com/app.

Here’s a few tips to help you make the most out of your experience with Midjourney:
